In Namibia, first Flame and Early Sweet vareity are expected to be packed by the end of Week 45 and the beginning of Week 46. Due to cold night temperatures, the production volume and quality seem promising, while harvest was slightly delayed.
In the area of the Orange River, the season started in mid-November, with the earlier varieties being delayed by 3-5 days. In the areas near Berg River, harvest is planned to start as the same time as past year, while in the areas near Hex river, first Starlight variety is expected to be harvested a week later than last near, at the end of December.
According to the SATI report's first estimation for 2021-2022, crop yields are expected to amount to 74.2 million cartons (4.5 kg equivalent).
