Taiwan pineapples have entered their peak season. The chairman of the Agricultural Committee, Mr. Chen, has frequently visited origin areas to attend the ceremony of sealing exporting containers, set the threshold of selling price for subsidy at USD 2.34 each pineapple and targeted to export 30,000mt to Japan in 2022.
In fact, Taiwan pineapples are suffering many challenges ahead. Firstly, the global warming changes lead the early pineapples to sour taste. Secondly, the pandemic of Covid-19 has made the shipping schedule chaotic and impacted the shelf-life of pineapples. Thirdly, the pineapples are frequently tested with worms by Japanese custom inspection and need to be fumigation before clearing the custom. The quality of pineapples is not good. Many trading companies sell the fruits at low prices, and it leads to a decrease in order.
