According to National Taiwan Ocean University, in 2020, the export market is slow under COVID-19's impact. The export market volume has decreased by 1,037 MT and 4.2 Million USD for whole round seabass, and by 1,143 MT and 10 Million USD for seabass fillet when compared from Jan to Oct 2020 to same period in 2019.
At present, the domestic fish catch has exceeded the requirements of the domestic consumer market (above 1kg), and competition from large-scaled farmed fish such as tilapia and milkfish has led to further decrease on the pond trading prices. As for export market, demand has fallen due to COVID-19.
