Tanzania's Sugar Board announced on Tuesday, October 25, that steps are being taken to end the country's sugar deficit, including sugar factories' expansion, the mobilisation of farmers to grow sugarcane and attracting investors in the sugar sector. These measures aim at increasing sugar production by 98% from the current 380,000MT annually to 756,000MT annually by 2025. The current sugar demand in Tanzania is 440,000MT annually, which leaves a shortage of 60,000MT.
