The Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO) in Tanzania and Smart Group Import and Export Company Ltd in Egypt has signed a five-year contract to enable Tanzanian farmers to produce and export agricultural crops such as yellow maize, white maize, wheat, and soya to Egypt. The annual contract value exceeds USD 353 million, says SUGECO Executive Director Mr. Revocatus Kimario. The contract will allow farmers to benefit from a reliable market and improve the varieties. For example, it will allow Tanzanian farmers to sell 1.5 million MT of yellow maize annually.
