The Tanzanian government is encouraging farmers of different crops to increase production to be able to cover the local demand as well as the export demand. The minister of agriculture stressed that the government has opened foreign markets to create opportunities in agriculture, but that local demand also needs to be fulfilled. As an example, the maize crop in 2019 saw the country exporting 84,163MT, in 2020 73,000MT and in 2021 32,000MT. In total, from 2019 until December 2022, Tanzania exported a total of 400,400MT.
