During W44, the wholesale price of Thai longans at the Jia Xing Market in Shanghai, China, was priced at USD 2.31 per kilogram (kg), whereas Cambodia's longans stood at USD 1.97/kg. The Thai longans' price for W44 was lower than that in W40 (early October), decreasing by around 16.91% month-on-month (MoM). This price shift was due to the increased arrival of Cambodia's longan containers in the market. In addition, lower longan consumption by Chinese consumers contributed to the pricing trends for Thai and Cambodian imports. It is expected that Chinese demand for longans will rise as winter approaches, as the fruit is believed to have warming properties.
