An increase in orders of Kao Neaw Ma Muang (Mango Sticky Rice) from Thai restaurants in the US has stimulated the sale of Ataofo mangoes from Mexico as the restaurants decided to use Ataofo mangoes instead of Thai Nam Dok Mai due to high import costs. The Nam Dok Mai mango from Thailand has to pass the gamma radiation procedure before being exported via airfreight to the US, which keeps its selling price high.
