All the articles released in general mentioned that the number of Thai Durian growers would increase continuously for China market. However, according Durian growers, they are aware of the expansion of supply and have a backup plan for the next three years ahead since the market share will be decreased a lot, which will be shared by Durian growers from Myanma, Laos, Vietnam, and Malaysia, where they are starting to expand Durian farms since a couple of years ago. It usually takes about six years for full capacity for Durian farm. Their backup plan is to focus more on the certificate registered premium market and export more to the US, Europe, and South Africa as a new market entry. Compared to recent years, 90% of Durian farms in Thailand are registered with GAP at the moment.
