Thailand off season Yellow Mango (NAM DOK MAI) quality degraded by fungus

The efforts of Nam Dok Mai mango farmers to produce off-season products in order to get higher selling prices and earn stable income throughout the year has been hindered by the "Black Fungus" that affects on the surface and the pole of a mango.

Products with black fungus cannot be exported to foreign countries such as Japan, South Korea, UAE, etc. Both ripe and unripe, downgraded mangoes are being sold in domestic markets and growers have lost more than USD 0.61 per kg. Exported grade mangoes is usually USD 2.88 per kg while downgraded mango is USD 2.27 per kg.
