Spring frosts in the Ebro Valley and heavy rains on the Mediterranean coast have caused significant losses in Spanish apricots. The 2022 season closed with a production of around 78,000MT, representing a 39% drop compared to the 127,230MT produced in the 2021 season. The exports have been reduced by 40% YoY to 55,800MT from 92,779MT in 2021. The main reasons were the delay of the earliest varieties, spring frosts, and losses due to excessive rainfall in April, which have shortened the season even more. In addition, the recovery of European producers such as Italy and France has also reduced exports into the EU market.
