Spanish strawberry is produced in the Segovia area during the summer season; whereas winter season production is mostly in the Huelva area. Production in the Segovia campaign goes through different flowerings. There is a first flowering that produces a first production peak. When this production ends, a period of scarcity appears for 2-3 weeks until the second flowering of the plants. From the second flowering onwards, the production is linked with the successive flowerings, leaving no shortage gap.
Spanish strawberry is currently at the time of scarcity between the first and second flowering, which is why prices are high and availability is scarce. Currently, there may be cheaper prices for strawberries on the market, but they are from the last remnants of the Huelva campaign, with quality problems. The best time to program with product stability for the summer season would be now, in order to start loading from the beginning of July.
