Mandarin agriculture is rising in the Sylhet division due to high demand. On the other hand, farmers in Sylhet are losing interest in Mandarin orange (Citrus reticulata) cultivation. The fruits are becoming smaller and sourer due to farming Mandarin oranges on the same land repeatedly. As it is sour compared to the imported varieties of orange, locally produced mandarin oranges have lower market demand. On the other hand, citrus fruit imported from other nations has taken over the market because it is more delicious.
