In order to ensure the supply of soybeans in the domestic market, the government of Indonesia through its Ministry of Trade has issued a permit to open up an import channel to source soybeans from Brazil. The current law has approved around 40 KMT of soybeans to be shipped to Indonesia that is intended to accommodate the demand from regular consumers, as well as industrial-level consumers for the remainder of 2020. In addition, this will prepare the country for the potential surge of demand leading up to the Christmas and New Year holiday seasons. The decision to source from Brazil was predicated by the limited supply from the regular supplying-countries such as Australia and the USA in the past two months.
