The government of Indonesia through its Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and its Naval Force is currently in the process of constructing a fishing port in Cilacap regency in the Central Java province. This initiative was taken considering the high potential of this province to be a hub for strategic fishery commodities such as tuna, snapper, shrimp, and swordfish that reached a total of 4 KMT and 6 KMT in 2018 and 2019 respectively. The early stage of the development has been started earlier this month, and this port is expected to start its operational activities by March 2021. Once completed, this shipping port would be the sixth fully-operational shipping port in Indonesia that provides suppliers and exporters of fishery products with direct shipment to nearby countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
