The government of Indonesia through its Ministry of Trade is currently trying to lobby the World Trade Organization (WTO) to negotiate with the European Union Countries to lift the import ban of palm oil-based products from major exporting countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia. This initiative is taken by the government of Indonesia following the successful production on the green diesel fuel that is generated from crude palm oil, and the intention from the government to enable the national companies both government-owned and private companies to export their products to Europe in the foreseeable future. Previously in the most part of 2019, Indonesia was having trouble exporting products to European Union countries as palm oil-based products drew a negative image among the consumers in the countries as it is perceived to not environmentally friendly when it comes to production and manufacturing of these products.
