As a part of the market expansion of spices from Indonesia to Eastern European and Middle Eastern markets such as Azerbaijan, Romania, and Bulgaria, a number of spice exporters in Indonesia are currently working on partnerships with local companies in the respective countries to distribute the products for them. Some spices that are currently being the object of the partnerships are vanilla beans, turmeric, ginger, and white pepper. The partnership with the local companies is thought to be a more efficient way of distributing the spices to this region, especially at times of the pandemic when business maneuverability is limited. Moreover, the expansion to Eastern Europe is thought to a highly prospective business opportunity for spices as the potential demand for the aforementioned spices is projected to be at 400 MT annually.
