The Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply of the state of Parana estimated 24.2 million tonnes of grains this summer season, cultivated over an area of 6.1 million hectares, down 0.8% from a month ago. The reduction is related to the delay in the sowing stage caused by irregular rainfalls, and also to the long drought faced by the earlier plantings.

Soybean is the largest crop with an area under cultivation estimated at 5.6 million hectares (2% above last year), followed by maize with 359 thousand hectares (cultivated to a greater extent in winter) and, finally, common beans, with 150 thousand hectares (this crop is cultivated three times a year).

In terms of productivity for this summer harvest, 20.4 million tonnes of soybean, 3.4 million tonnes of maize (only summer harvest), both 2% below the previous year, and 0.3 million tonnes of common beans (first harvest only), 6% below last year.
