The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange market has strengthened its modern marketing system and introduced five types of products into the electronic marketing system in the 2022/23 fiscal year, including rice, wheat, cardamom, incense, and beans. On April 7, 2023, Grade 3 rice was traded on the electronic trading platform at the Bure branch at a price of USD 118 per quintal, and a total of 60 quintals of rice were traded for over USD 7,000. Rice market information has been made available to the public since April 7, increasing the bargaining power of farmers to sell their products at a better price.
