Earlier this week, the local agriculture quarantine agency of the Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia has issued export permission for dried vanilla beans from the Nusa Tenggara province with the USA as the final destination. The exporter from this region has secured a deal to supply around 1.3 MT of vanilla beans which would be divided into two shipments. This export also marked the first time that vanilla beans from this region was exported to the USA. This trade was made possible with the help of the Indonesian trading attache in the USA and the Indonesian port authority in Surabaya where the product would be discharged from. It is expected that similar transactions can be made into regularity, considering that the Nusa Tenggara province relies quite heavily on its agricultural sector.
