The foreign trade trend of Italian fruit and vegetables

The foreign trade of Italian fruit and vegetables confirms an even better trend in 2021 than in 2020. Both in value (EUR 5.2 billion, + 8.3% compared to the previous year) and volume (+1.8%, equal to 3.6 million MT). Imports have decreased, both in value (-0.3%) and in volume (-1.5%). In the post-pandemic year, legumes and vegetables (+ 11.9%), dried fruit (+ 16.3%), and tropical fruit (+23.1%) are doing very well.

Among the main exported products, apples with a value of over EUR 881 million (+ 5.74%) stand out, followed by table grapes with 729 million (+1.21%) and kiwifruit, which is a poor year in quantity (-1.91%) amounted to approximately 473 million (+ 2.63%). After a very difficult 2020, peaches/nectarines are back : 137.4 million (+ 26.53%). Followed by oranges (113.8 million, + 5.37%), pears (106.4 million, -10%) and lemons (66 million, -19.3%). Bananas (430.5 million, -3.87%) and pineapples (97 million, + 8.7%) are confirmed among the most imported products.
