Mersin is one of the most important agricultural production cities in Turkey and the greenhouse production areas are expected to reach 65,000 hectares with a 13,000 hectare increase.

The reason behind the increase is reported to be the increased demand for agricultural products both in the domestic and in the export markets due to the Covid19 outbreak. The growers are now preparing for the second wave of the virus. Most grown products in the area are tomato, chili pepper, eggplant, cucumber, banana, and citrus fruits.
