The Hake is in demand in South Africa

Hake (M.capensis and M.paradoxus) is the only certified fish by Marine Steward Council in South Africa. The total available volume in 2021 is 120,000MT valued at approx. USD 275 million (57% exported). Since fishing quotas were fully filled in 2021, processors are focusing more on value-added products (molding, breading, etc.) with options towards private label packaging.
