The Highest Price Ever for Plums in France

Plum producers from the Baronnies area in the South East of France report that the Santa Clara variety, also known as President, will reach the highest prices ever during the 2022 campaign. Generally, prices for size 45+ (AA) range between USD 0.65-1.20/kg depending on the year, with the price reaching the upper threshold only twice in the last 15 years. However, this year the market demand for Santa Clara is very high coupled with low supply in the South East of France. In the Baronnies area, the starting price for this season is USD 1.40/kg, twice as much as the average price and 17% higher than the highest price experienced previously.
