The newly released weekly national reference price of palm kernel fruits by the palm oil association of Indonesia has shown that the price of this commodity has gone up slightly in the opening of this week, in comparison to the opening day of last week. It was reported that the price is currently at IDR 2115.19/Kg or up IDR 22.79/Kg from last week.
A number of fruit growers pointed out that the higher demand for palm kernel is the primary driving force for the price increase. The majority of national crude palm oil (CPO) manufacturers are currently trying to maximize their production or milling capacity to respond to the higher demand from the national cooking oil industry leading up to the long holiday in the span of December 2020 to early January 2021.
