The Chinese domestic fresh fruits supplement the wholesale markets from June to September of each year, i.e., the summer season in China, the peak sales period of various domestic fresh fruits. From October to May, imported varieties are playing a relatively major role at wholesale markets out of that period, i.e., from Oct. to May. Still, simultaneously a few domestic varieties are also playing a supplementary role, especially those not available among imported fresh fruits or that have dissatisfactory quality levels.
In WK 1, 2022, the most common domestic fresh fruits were various oranges and mandarins from South China, red grapes and pomegranates from Yunnan, and horned melon (fire ginseng fruits) from Hainan/Guangdong. All these fruits are packed in imitated-import-box so that these products could be seen as costly. The influence on the market price of genuine imported fresh fruits should not be neglected.
