Japanese Wagyu Price Steady in Indonesian Market

Japanese wagyu wholesale prices are holding steady at around USD100-186/kg in week 30 of 2022, depending on the cuts. Indonesian importers are only able to source from two abattoirs in Japan, one of them being Nishiawa in Tokushima Prefecture. A halal certificate has become the key requirement in the approval of abattoirs. During the period of January-May 2022, Indonesia imported only about 10.2MT of boneless beef (frozen boneless HS Code 020230 and fresh boneless HS Code 020130) from the two Japanese establishments, compared to Indonesia's total imports of more than 175,000MT in 2021. The primary points of discharge are in Jakarta, both Soekarno Hatta airport and Tanjung Priok seaport.
