Fruit Oversupply in Japan Due to High Local Production

In autumn, the domestic fruit supply in Japan grows as the country prepares for the Obon festival. However, this year the fruit supply in Japan seems to be high, making prices decrease rapidly. For instance, apple’s wholesale price for mid-grade dropped to USD 17.53 per 10kg box. Forecasts indicate fruit prices will continue to drop until supply stabilizes in the Japanese market.
