Two weeks before entering the month of Ramadan, the price of shallots began to increase in Indonesian traditional markets. Price has increase from IDR 17,000/Kg to IDR 28,000/Kg. It is due to the increased demand for shallots from Ramadan and low stock in the market, due to the La Nina climate.
