Some Indonesian suppliers are currently trying to promote a different variety of beef and meatballs to the local market. This variety is called pineapple-fed beef, which is derived from cows that have been fed with pineapple. According to local experts, beef or meatballs that are derived from pineapple-fed cows can actually taste more tender and has more flavorful meat in comparison to the conventionally-fed beef. Still, due to its relatively higher price in comparison to the regular beef (as the production cost is also higher), the product can only be bought at the high-end modern retailers across Indonesia and afforded by a very niche consumers segment across some of the biggest provinces in Indonesia.
