Decline in flaxseed production in Ukraine

Even though the world flaxseed market is growing every year, Ukraine has the opposite trend. Over the last ten years, flaxseed production in Ukraine has decreased by five times, and exports are declining.

This negative trend is due to introducing a 10% export duty on flaxseed, making Ukrainian flaxseed prices not competitive in foreign markets. The duty should have stimulated the internal processing of seeds into the oil, but the appropriate volume of processing has not been implemented so far.
