In Brazil, on this Wednesday (17th), the religious period of Lent began, where many people do not consume meat, and the search for substitutes, such as eggs, increases significantly, pushing prices up. In pre-pandemic periods, it was possible to notice an increase of up to 30% in the consumption of eggs, but last year the pandemic ended up changing the results and the uncontrolled demand for eggs came to cause a shortage of the product in the markets. Producers are excited about the arrival of the period and expectation of an increase in the price of eggs, but the availability of the merchandise is limited since several laying hens had to be sacrificed due to the significant increase in production costs.
