The smallholder farmers and family farms of Nampula are being incentivized to invest in cassava arming as a way of guaranteeing food security, especially considering the lack of rain in the region. The director of Agriculture and Fisheries of Nampula affirms that this may be the most viable agriculture at the moment for local farms, considering rain has not been falling regularly in the region. Local authorities had expected the rainy season to initiate in October 2020, but there still has not been enough rainfall consistency to begin plantation.
