To complement the supply of vanilla in order to cope with the demand from overseas buyers, a number of vanilla exporters in Indonesia have been sourcing this commodity from partnered farmers in Papua New Guinea, before repacking the vanilla to be sent to the country of destinations. Aside from the reliable production capacity, these exporters have been sourcing vanilla from Papua New Guinea because of the quality of vanilla produced in this country that is on par and sometimes even better than the one that is produced in most regions in Indonesia. At the moment, the national vanilla industry in Indonesia can source an average of 10 MT of vanilla from Papua New Guinea in a year.
