Due to the growing demand for Moroccan pomegranate for the juice and beverage industry, many producers consider the Turkish variety “Hicaz” to substitute for the local types. This variety needs low maintenance, has frost tolerant, and is self-fertile and pest and disease resistant. From a production standpoint, Hicaz is known for its high juice yield and delicious seeds, and can be stored for few weeks if properly wrapped and refrigerated.
