The UK King scallops are famous for delicate flavor and a meaty texture across the Europe. The UK exports over 58,000 MT of scallops each year, with a value of GBP 68 million (USD 85.52 million). However, since 2016 the export volumes decreased by 55%. New markets outside of Europe are now being explored. The current wholesale price of fresh half shell king scallops in a premium quality delivered into Europe are around EUR 11.80/kg (USD 12.70/kg).
