The United Kingdom is facing supply issues of Brazil Nuts from Bolivia since Chile closed its borders to Bolivia due to COVID-19. Since Bolivia has no coast, it is necessary to export its products from Chile, and the border closure has affected the supply chain. The current CIF price of Brazil Nuts in the U.K. port stands at USD 3.55-3.75 per lb.

Peru is an alternative origin in South America for Brazil nuts, and many countries hold fewer import duties from Peru than for Bolivia. One clear example is South Korea since it has a 0% import duty from Peru but a 15% duty from Bolivia.
