Until now, the Australian Almond industry has been made up of five main processors who pack and sell product for the domestic and export market, but 2022 will see orchards owned by individual packers come into maturity for the first time. This is creating additional choice in supply which has not been seen before. In the lead up to the export marketing year (March to February), prices will continue to be determined by the current Californian season, however, increased competition, strengthening AUD and over-reliance on China is making traders nervous for the season ahead.
