Iran's main export markets for shrimp are China and Vietnam and normally shrimp stocks in the country become low around the Chinese New Year season. However, this year China has tightened the customs controls and this created difficulties for many of the Iranian exporters. Iranian producers currently have larger stock levels of shrimps in their warehouses which is unusual for the season. Due to high stock levels, the shrimp prices didn't go up as expected.
