Many fishermen from other countries are poaching in the Malaysian East Coast

Local fishermen hope the Fisheries Department can give a stern warning to illegal fishermen from Myanmar and Thailand who frequently enter Malaysian waters around the East Coast. This is because these illegal fishermen will catch squid beyond the limit is feared to affect the income of local fishermen. For the past 8 months, the Pahang State Fisheries Department detained 58 boats along with 244 Vietnamese and Myanmar fishermen who committed the same offense.
