As Turkish Lira value devaluation affects import/export and prices of other dried fruits like figs and apricots increases marginally, dried grape prices in December 2021 are slightly lower compared to December 2020. The reason for the lower prices is the good crop and government mismanagement, which led the base price leading farmers to sell their products cheaper than they hoped for.

Low prices are leading an upwards trend in export, especially in the main markets except for the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom has always been the biggest importer of dried grapes and it is true this year as well. However, while the United Kingdom imported USD 47.960.000 worth of dried grapes between September and December of 2020, this year their imports were worth only USD 35.900.000.

Total Turkish export volume till December 2021 remains similar to that of 2020 due to the increased demand in other major European Markets including Germany, Italy, Spain, and Poland. They are the top 10 destinations for dried grapes and all of their import amount increased at least 10% from September to December this year compared to the last year.

With the Christmas shipments coming to an end, dried grape export is expected to slow down until Easter Season, while prices can go slightly lower during winter due to the low demand. which would create an opportunity for buyers who would like to buy the products more cheaply if they act early.
