Transport Strike Affects Fish Supply in Biggest Wholesale Markets in Spain

The freight transport strike taking place since 14th March severely affects the supply of Seabream and Seabass in MercaMadrid, the biggest Spanish wholesale market. Compared to the previous year, the supply of fresh Seabream and Seabass from Murcia and the Valencia region and Greece decreased by 25%. Based on available data, there was a decrease of 3.65 MT of seabream and 8.23 MT of seabass in a single day compared to the same day last year. The price also increased to EUR 4.50 per kg from EUR 5.60 per kg for Seabream and EUR 5.7 per kg from EUR 6.5 per kg for Seabass.
