Turkey announces 2022 target in fresh fruit and vegetable production and export

The target of 2022 regarding the export of fresh fruits and vegetables is to produce quality products that are beneficial for human health and traceable for product diversity. Especially in citrus and vegetables, new varieties are made in the world. It is one of the top priorities for Turkey to produce products with good aroma, taste, and long shelf life in terms of resistance to climatic conditions. Turkey continues to work on new varieties and products with long shelf life and an accepted aroma by contacting universities and providing support. In the Amik, Plain from Mersin to Hatay, Turkey has produced hard seeds of peach, nectarine, apricot, and plum in recent years and can compete with every country in the world with these varieties.

Meanwhile, in the 11 months of 2021, peach exports, which increased by 10% compared to the same period of the previous year, amounted to USD 169 million.
