Turkey produced 210,077MT of chicken meat in September 2022, an increase of 5.7% YoY but a decrease of 2.7% MoM. In terms of chicken eggs, 1.72B were produced, representing a 6.5% increase YoY and a 2.1% increase MoM. Additionally, 114.79M chickens were slaughtered in September, a 4.5% increase YoY. From January to September 2022, there was a 1.8% increase in the number of chicken eggs produced, a 10.4% increase in chicken meat production, and an 11.8% increase in the number of slaughtered chickens. Despite increased meat production, Turkish producers are struggling to meet high demand from Gulf countries. The surge in demand from Gulf countries is due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, which has caused an increase in grain and energy prices in major egg exporting countries, such as Ukraine and Holland.
