Turkish dried figs export numbers in fall 2021 are identical to that of fall 2020 despite the sharp decrease in Chinese imports. Chinese import of Turkish figs decreased from USD 3.5 million to USD 1.8 million in 2021 between October and December.

However, the situation is different in other markets in Asia, such as South Korea, Japan, and Australia. Australia increased their import by 29% to USD 1,5 million while South Korea increased theirs by 8% to USD 847 thousand. However, Japanese imports only increased by 7% with USD 2.4 million. Japan has become the biggest importer of dried figs in Asia and 9th most significant globally, following the European and American markets who are traditional importers of dried figs.
