Turkish sunflower seed importers seek alternative sourcing options instead of China due to high freight costs

Turkey imported around 1,240 KMT of sunflower seed in 2020, and China remains the most important sourcing destination for Turkish importers. However, due to the recent hike in the freight costs from China to Turkey, the cost of imported sunflower seeds from China soared. As a result, Turkish importers are seeking other sourcing destinations to fulfill the market demand. The United States is one of the alternative destinations they are seeking.
