A mechanical system malfunction at Tyson Fresh Meats' Iowa pork plant will cause the company to suspend plant operations for several days. The facility slaughters about 2% of American pigs this marks the second time this year they have halted production as the plant was closed for 2 weeks in April during COVID as well. There is no definitive timeline for production to begin again, but the company is moving production to other facilities in the near term.
