The Ugandan government, through the National Agriculture Advisory Services (NAADS), is currently distributing coffee seedlings to farmers in 126 coffee-producing districts in Uganda. The process, which began in October 2022, is expected to be concluded by December 2022, with a target of over 5.6M seedlings. Several districts in western Uganda that have received the seedlings include Buhweju, Mitooma, and Bushenyi. The seedlings are procured on credit, and payments will be made in the fiscal years 2023/24 and 2024/25 with an estimated budget of USD 2.37M. A significant increase in Ugandan coffee production is expected in the coming years as the country positions itself as a key coffee producer in the world, competing with Vietnam and Brazil, the world's leading Robusta coffee producers.
