Cibus 2024: Insights Into Italy’s Canned Fish Sector

The Cibus 2024 event in Parma concluded successfully on May 10th, with strong participation from numerous brands in the agri-food sector. Among them were over 20 national companies related to the fishing sector or utilizing raw materials for seafood production. These companies import essential materials from countries like India, Vietnam, Spain, and others to produce canned tuna, mackerel, salmon, and anchovy preserves. Additionally, they offer prepared products such as seafood sauces, breaded items, and ready-to-eat options. Despite relying on imports for 80% of their raw materials, these Italian companies play a significant role in driving and expanding the economy in the agri-food sector, serving Retail, Horeca, and Food Services segments.
