U.S. food exports to Mexico are being hit by Mexican labeling requirements for prepacked foods and beverages.

Several different agricultural organizations are raising their voices towards the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture regarding their concerns and complaints on the recent restrictions that Mexico has imposed upon certain agricultural products despite the agreements reached on the USMCA. The recent reason of concern for U.S. growers and exporters is the Mexican labeling requirements for prepacked foods and beverages (also known as NOM-051 standard), which is halting many exports and consuming money in terms of logistics and expenses.
